I made it out on the trails!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well after more than a year I was able to make it out on the single track. It has been such a long time and not to mention all the pain, but I am happy to say that the recovery continues. I am hoping to get out on the road bike the next couple of weekends for some tours. I hope to get out on the dirt as well. This was the first time that I rode the trek off road…..WOW is all I can say. the legs have a way to go but the mind and bike are more than ready. I would like to thank all of you for your continued thoughts and prayers. I hope to be able to make a difference in the fight against cancer next year so stay tuned in.

Thanks much

Doug

New drugs are working great

I am making improvements daily, the new stuff seams to really be doing the job. I would like to say thank you to Dr. Tsai for all of her amazing help. I hope to be more and more active as the days go on……

Meet the New member for the family

New drugs waiting to see if they work

Well I have been feeling a bit better. My lower half is doing better but my shoulders, elbows, wrists and fingers still have a long way to go. I am hoping to get these things under control so I can get back to work. I have been off since the the end of Oct and disability is not very rewarding as far as monetarily. Thank God this is from my union if I did not have that I would be in serious trouble. I am not sure if I will ever be able to go back to work in the piping field. I am just letting the Lord guide us as far as the future. I know things will work out in time. I am staying busy at the Church and with the teen group. That is about a full time job in itself. Well off to take more chemo pills…..Live is great….One day at a time.

The body is just not cooperating

Just been to the doctors and I will have to go to more to get to the bottom of this. the wrists and such are just making me old before my time. Arthritis seems to be the big problem along with the MRSA staph. I am hoping all of the side effects are from the staph and not the arthritis. I may have to start a low dose of chemo to fight the arthritis and I am not to thrilled about that. I have done some research and the MRSA my be the cause. I will be going to a infectious disease Doctor tomorrow and maybe we will get some more info.

I want to get back on the bike and really enjoy my life but this is a dream as of now. If you have a chance send a prayer for me that I may not be put down too early……..

thanks for reading and caring.

Looking toward the future

Hello all just wanted to take a few minutes to update everyone. It looks like the short ride will take place in the spring. I have joined the livestrong army and have some back up in planning this. We are going to make this ride a fundraiser for Sarcoma. We will be working on this through the winter and getting some advertising out ASAP.

I am sidelined again by the doctors from riding again for a bit. I have acute tendinitis in my wrists so the pressure on the wrists is not what they want for me right now. I am looking to get into roller blading, as I research into this I have found it to be very compatible to running with out all of the impact. So it looks good for me till the snow flies.

I hope all of my friends are doing well and I wish all the best to all of you. Thanks for keeping up to date on what is happening in my life

motivation required

Ready to get off the couch and take control of your life and body? I am ready to raise the bar on my fitness. Motivation and a partner may be required. you know how it is when you get in shape, sometimes you do not have the energy to work out that day,but when you do you are glad you did.  Since my training partner had to move there has been a void to fill. And for the first time in my life I have to work on the small gut. That is motivation in its self. Let me know if you may be able to fill this spot.

I have been in touch with the Cleveland Clinic and we may be coming to a beneficial working relationship for the rides. Since I was cured there I would think this would be something that they might want to pursue. We will be working on this, as things transpire I will update you.

New projects…..

As yo all know my ride has been moved to next year do to my infections. We will be moving ahead with planning through the winter months.

I have made new friends at the Armstrong summit and we are looking into getting a ride from the Clinic to the James hospital in Columbus to benefit Sarcoma research. If yo wish to lend a hand for the ride or in planning, drop me a note.

I am trying to get started back into table tennis to help in my winter training. I will keep you updated as to my progress…

Wow what a Summit

Just returned from the Livestrong summit, what a great time. I learned so much on how to help in the fight against cancer. I also met some fellow Sarcoma patients. We had a chance to sit down and share our stories. We grew into new and life long friends. We will be working together to raise awareness and money for a very stubborn under funded disease. More to come on these projects.

Just got back from the clinic and my scans look good!!!!!! I have to wait and get the final word from the guys that read the scans. I have some scaring of the lungs but if I keep up training I could help the lungs rejuvinate.

Well C-ya for now and tune in for updates

Cycle ride may be moved to next year

Because of the infections that I have been plagued with I have not been able to train. The doctors are going to be sending me to another specialist to see why these pesky infections wont leave me alone. I hope they will find out something soon. they have told me that it must be a effect of the Chemo.

I will not give up on this dream but I will have to be smart and be in good heath to be able to reach my goal. Do not give up on me, I know I wont give up…..

Have a great day and stay cool if your can.
